Over the next few posts I want to share with you some insights about the Orphan heart from Judges chapter 11
Judges 11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he was the son of a harlot; and Gilead begot Jephthah.
Jephthah was gifted as a mighty man of valor. He looked the part on the outside, strong and brave but his soul told another story – he was a son of a harlot.
Jephthah’s name meant – he will open, loosen, let go free.
Like us, his destiny was to be whole, transparent, able to be intimate and vulnerable. Yet he was bound by shame, rejection and a never ending cycle of performance and reward
Have you noticed that you can achieve great things in your life but still carry a damaged soul, an orphan heart? This orphan soul will overpower and misinterpret much of what God wants to communicate to us through our spirit –more on that later!
Eventually it will catch up with you. Your gifts will take you where your soul can’t keep you.
I am convinced that there are way to many broken people trying to change their world
I have really only one true gift to give to the world – it is the Gift of my self in wholeness. Only that which is birth out of wholeness bears lasting fruit
Orphan’s like Jephthah betray themselves by their language. (see Judges12)
Just listen to their hearts. Orphans either express themselves through a language of hopelessness or one of performance
They either brag about their achievements or slander their ability to do anything right.
I have sat at tables and listened to leaders outdo one another, listing their conquests and amazing feats in hope of rising up the pecking order and getting the fleeting pleasure of their “Senior leader’s” admiration.
Most people don’t know that they are orphans because they are so afraid to stop, to listen, to look inside, for fear of what they well might discover.
Wholeness however comes to those who stop, who are willing to become vulnerable and transparent with God, themselves and others.
